Five tips and tricks to make your Immortals Fenyx Rising experience the best it can be
With a week of playtime in the bank, many of us have devoured the narrative that Immortals Fenyx Rising has to offer. There are of course also countless gamers who may be taking their time with the whole experience, not following the campaign from beginning to end but instead enjoying the host of side quests, challenges and activities that are scattered throughout the mythological Greek land of Olympos.
Now, all cards on the table, I was absolutely terrible at combat when I first jumped in with Immortals. I also had to brush up on my stamina preservation skills, as well as a number of other areas that would become prominent as part of the game’s mechanics.
Bearing that in mind, now that I’m a master of controlling our new favourite demigod (just don’t ask me to prove it), I’ve popped together five tips and tricks that will aid you in getting ahead if you’re in need of a helping hand…
1. Parry simple attacks to stun your enemy
Getting in your slices and stabs at the right time is essential if you want to gain the upper hand in a battle, so make sure that you have your parry button memorised for when your opponent lunges. Pressing it at the right time can stun your enemy depending on their stamina, allowing you an opening to get in some hits of your own. Doing this just a few times in a row should see them sent right back to the Underworld!
2. You CANNOT parry attacks that glow red
Dodging at the right time is going to be your mission when your adversary glows with a red tinge before attacking, as trying to parry one of these heavy blows is to no avail. Fortunately, if you do jump to the side just before being hit, the game will slow down so you have ample opportunity to put your weapons to use and get in some whacks on the backside of that greedy gorgon or grumpy bear.
3. Keep an eye on your blue stamina bar
Whilst this game was inspired by the Assassin’s Creed series, you’re not going to be able to scale an entire mountain in one go. Instead, you’ll be forced to find platforms to stand upon, regaining your stamina in mere seconds once you stop to catch your breath. Don’t keep climbing when your stamina’s low, or you could find yourself being brought right back down to Earth, quite literally with a bang!
4. Make sure to scout out new areas you visit
Climbing to one of the highest points in a new area will give you the opportunity to check out the lay of the land before you. You’ll be able to use one of Fenyx’s abilities to zoom into the locations around you, dropping pins on points of interest such as Tartaros Vaults, collectibles and mini challenges. Try and do this as soon as you enter a new area, as you’ll then be able to plan out your journey throughout the location with ease.
5. Keep crafting plenty of potions
Getting ahead in combat isn’t just about learning the basics of attacking and parrying, but also about stocking up on those wonderful little potions that can turn the tide in your favour, just as your enemy thinks they’ve got you on the ropes. So, collect lots of ingredients and get to crafting so you can top-up your health and stamina at any point!
Putting all of these tips in action should make your life a lot easier whilst moving around the wonderful world created by Ubisoft in Immortals Fenyx Rising!
